Eli's 4th birthday (10/6) started out with birthday pancakes.
His birthday happened to be on Salmon Days- the festival that welcomes the salmon back to their spawning stream. Usually it pours rain but today was gorgous! The kids loved the "field of fun" which happens to be across the street from our house!
Morgan and Sarah
Eli watching his shadow "dance"
Evan and Eli fighting- at least this time they have protective gear!
All 4 of them in front of a huge blow up salmon. You can go inside and listen to a storyteller.
Lots of vendors- one guy thought Morgan was the picture and not a real person!
Took a train ride around the parking lot
Had to wait in line to try out these "springless trampolines". The kids think we need one now!
Balloon hats- fun!
This is my favorite part of Salmon Days- the dock dogs. They have different competitions for these dogs- they measure how far they jump and another competition to measure the height. This was the height competition- the dogs have to knock the chew toy off. I think they were jumping 6-7 feet! Crazy!
We left dock dogs to sit in a fire truck. Very fun for the kids!
We were too tired to have Eli's cake on his birthday- plus Nate had Priesthood session- so we did this on Sunday. I made the cake and put an edible super why image on it. Not my favorite cake, but that's about all the energy I had for his birthday this year.
Eli is a fun kid. He loves letters, puzzles, and coloring. He can entertain himself and plays well with others. Evan knows just how to get under his skin and Eli knows just how to cry to get Evan in trouble- so that's a contant battle. Eli is a people pleaser and a great helper. If I ask him to do something, he does it right away. He goes to bed really well and is generally very pleasant. We love our Eli!
Opening presents from Grandma and Grandpa Morgan. I had to include this pic to show off Nate's back brace- he has a bulging disc and he wears this all the time to support his back. Poor guy- hopefully he recovers soon!
Eli ran into a pole at Morgan's school. We stayed after school to play and this is what we ended up with. Nate thinks he broke his nose- I'm not sure, but he was in lots of pain and didn't eat anything for the first 24 hours because it hurt so much. After that he had oatmeal for about 2 days until his lip healed. Good thing he likes oatmeal.
By the way, this happened 4 days before our scheduled family pictures. Lucky for us, it poured rain that day so we had to reschedule.
The day we were supposed to take family pictures- the kids love the rain. This is looking from the upstairs down into the backyard. Our tenants planted a huge garden that the kids love harvesting from.
Getting ready for company: I needed a dresser of some sort to put under our wall-mounted tv since we got rid of our huge entertainment center. I found this for a great price on craigslist and Nate only had to drive 60 minutes to get it! Anyway, here is the before:
I liked the green, but couldn't handle the pink in our family room (it would have been great in Morgan's room). So, I painted the drawers (way easy) and then wiped a stain on the top of the whole thing to "antique" it a bit. Here's the after: (I love it!)
Happy Birthday Eli! We sure do miss you! Poor Nate's back brace! And Poor Eli's face! And the Salmon Festival looks SO FUN!
ReplyDeleteAnd that DRESSER IS AMAZING. way to go, Amber. You are so talented!
Miss you too. So, so much. It's stinks that we knew you during the craziest year I've had in my life. I didn't get to soak you in as much as I wanted!
