It's tough to be 3

For months I've been telling Eli that when you turn 3 there will be no more diapers.  I've been really nervous to potty train him because I had a horrible experience with Evan (it took a year of pooping in his underwear before he was consistantly clean).   So, the day came and we put underwear on Eli.  The first time he peed he wanted a diaper because he didn't like the warm, wet feeling going down his legs.  (different from Evan- he could sit in wet underwear all day if I let him)  Eli caught on pretty quickly to make a "waterfall" in the toilet.  (he also calls his pee "chemical"- and he says "I don't have any chemical in me")  After about 2 days, he was consistant in going in the potty, but he didn't have number 2 down yet.  He would cry because it hurt, but wouldn't push anything out.  Finally on Sunday (4 days after we started potty training) Nate put a diaper back on him because he was having trouble with #2.  Eli didn't want to poop in his diaper, but a little came out and I sat him on the toilet.  He didn't want to go so I was going to put the diaper back on, but he really didn't want me to put a poopy diaper back on him.  So, he went in the toilet!  Nate always says you don't have to care and then they will- I'm sure that was my problem with Evan- I cared too much for the both of us!  It's been 4 more days and sometimes he'll have a little pee in his underwear and sometimes streaks, but for the most part Eli is potty trained!

Oh, while he was being trained and he didn't want to go on the potty, I would say, "Eli, it's tough to be 3."  So now he says that all the time 'It's tough to be 3.'
