My Little Darth Vadar
Evan gave us a scare last night. He woke up about 9:30pm wheezing and coughing. He gets croup in the winter, but it usually happens after he's had a cough or cold. He went to bed perfectly healthy last night. Nate was still at work and I couldn't get Evan to take his inhaler. I called Nate, who rushed home, and in the meantime, took Evan outside (but it wasn't very cold) and into the bathroom with the shower on (to breath in the steam). Nothing seemed to help and Evan was running around the house trying to get enough air in- it was so sad. He was very pale and I was afraid he would pass out. Luckily, Nate got home and was able to help me give Evan his inhaler. Unfortunetly, the inhaler was expired and didn't have much effect on Evan. So, Nate drove him down to the ER (running two red lights to get there quickly). Apparently, Evan was doing better when they got there but they monitored him for 3 hours anyway. His oxygen levels were at 100% shortly after they arrived at the ER so they let him breathe some vapor water. Finally, they gave him some steroids and Nate and Evan came home around 1am. Today Evan sounds a little like Darth Vadar with his heavy breathing. He thinks it's the best thing ever: he gets to "rest" while watching Phineas and Ferb and he got a "free" teddy bear (and socks) from the ER. Here he is at the hospital:
